Former Yankees manager Joe Torre said that competing is not about winning. “It’s about preparation, courage, understanding and nurturing your people, and heart. Winning is the result.” That’s what the Virginia Flames are about.
The Flames come from all walks of life – teachers, scientists, engineers, military, etc. – and several different age groups and skill levels. We are proud of the family-like atmosphere in our dugout where a blend of long-time EWBC veterans, new recruits, and youngsters from DC Girls Baseball find a home.
Established in 1994, the Flames are based in Northern Virginia, primarily in Fairfax County, but the team also includes players from DC and Maryland. Our home field is at McLean High School in McLean, VA. We believe that balancing the recreational (fun & fitness) and competitive nature of baseball has been key to the team’s success. Love of the game inspires all of our team members – both players and coaches – to generously contribute their time to train players seeking to improve their baseball skills.
The Flames always welcome new players who are ready to commit – experienced ball players or those eager to try baseball for the first time. If you are interested in being part of the team, please contact Coach Jen at ewbc.board@gmail.com
