Season Wrap Up
Another summer season of the Eastern Women’s Baseball Conference is in the books. Thank you to all of the participants for your dedication to the game and for the fun and enthusiasm you brought to the field. Below are a few end-of-season highlights.
EWBC First-Place Finisher
This year’s race to the top came down to the final game. The Fury and the Flames both finished with the same record of wins and losses. The Fury edged out the Flames in a tiebreaker, having scored more runs this season. Congratulations, Fury!
Summer Sandlot Game
The Blues, Flames, and Fury decided to cap off the summer season by combining forces and playing in the inaugural Sandlot Game. Players were divided into two teams: the Blurry and the Flurry. Both teams showcased excellent pitching, solid defense, and impressive hitting. The Flurry took an early lead, but the Blurry chipped away and ended up winning 10-8. Both teams celebrated, for it was a glorious day to play baseball and have fun with friends.
Heather Millar Sportsmanship Award
This year’s Heather Millar Sportsmanship Award goes to Bonnie Hoffman. Bonnie is a great teacher of baseball and has a way of encouraging and inspiring a person to be better. Bonnie is committed to the growth of women’s baseball and has done a lot through leadership roles she has taken on with DC Girls Baseball and the EWBC. Thank you, Bonnie, for your integrity and positivity on and off the baseball field!
Fall Ball
The EWBC has a Sunday time slot at McLean HIgh School’s Field until November. If players want to get together for a fall game or two, please let us know, and we can try to organize something.
In the meantime, try to stay cool, and invite your friends to join the League!
